MFE更喜欢数学物理的还是金融经济的

对于MFE，其对数学和计算的要求不可谓不低，因此入学的时候应该会对Applicants的过去的背景有偏好，那么是喜欢数学物理多一点还是金融经济背景多一点呢？

当然对不同的学校来说，有不同的偏好的。大家对此有什么信息，不妨跟大家分享一下。

学校的网页上都有的啊,绝对是理工类的,数学计算机的最佳,金融经济差很多啊,当然如果是清华北大毕业的应该希望还是很大的

金融工程大部分时间都在学习数学和编程,本科金融经济这两样技能基本是没有的

无论什么偏好，物理当然更有优势

况且大部分mfe项目根本不要求finance或者economics背景

国内的金融经济除了少数学校

其他的申请mfe几乎是浪费申请费．．．

除了武大金融实验班那种级别的金融

国内的金融，经济学科数学实在学得很少啊

微积分上完三重积分就不讲了

线性代数都不一定单独开课的

微分方程学到一阶线性常微

But it is not the fact as I know. At least, in my class, many Chinese students are from the B-school, even major in marketing, etc. So it will NEVER be a problem for your application. How many math courses you have taken before  only decides how tough you will feel  in the program. But the fact is, those from math or physics also feel puzzled when faced these finance courses. So it only depends on how hard you work NOW rather than what major you were in before.

Really? Maybe I have been a little bit misled by the info I heard of.

Which Uni are you in? Can you briefly talk about your currently program?

In the admission process, what kind of quality do they expect the applicants to have?( high gpa? high gt? working experience?) What is their criterion?

I am currently in Umich. Of course it is not that good when compared with UCB, NYU, UChicago, Stanford, etc., but i think it's ok. Indeed UChicago NYU requires VERY high in math, the other MFE programs not requires so much on it, at least in the application process. So it may be not proper when you say "Most of the MFE...", which will frustrate many people.

It is really hard to tell which aspect they expect, they just want to accept those who have the potential or have the passion to this field. Of course, to show your potential and passion, you should prove it with your transcript, ps, and rl. There is no definite criterion about it. You just should evaluate yourself to see whether you really want to pursue these jobs in the future and whether you are really suitable for this kind of job.
