Adcom came to Beijing to interview 4 applicants this morning, and then flied to Seoul tonight.





Due to the low yield (about 50%), they will collectively admit about 20 students in China mainland.

Any particular feeling about the interview?

And the yield rate - 50% is pretty high.  However, I don't think they will recruit 20 students in China because the school size is relatively small.

It was just a personal talking. We did mentioned some general questions.

I asked him a question (Maybe I should not, but I reckon that you guys want to know):



"what makes the admission officer to pick me out as the interviewee, or
perspective student from all applicant?" ----------- I am really
interested in their admission process.






He said:" ..........GMAT, Working Exprience and Achievements, or something like that."

From this, I know that they -adcom-  would NOT carefully review,
compare all essays and select interviewees. They often use common
indicators initially, although they will review the interviewees'
application material carefully eventually.Of course, at least for CMU,
one of the schools that give decisions much early.(For example, Mar 14,
round 2)



This may be an efficient way. Knowing this, we will be clearer about how to get noticed at a early stage.

Sure about the number? I mean "admit 20".

Not sure. I know only one adcom has stayed in China for 3 days (1 day,
shanghai, 1day beijing, 1 day rest.). He at most interview 10 people
per day. So total 20 interviewed. Round 1 and 2, 40 at most. And reject
at least 50%. so 20 remain.



It is only a rough estimation.

As I know, there is the exact date of the final decision for every round publicized on Tepper's website.

The deadline for Round is Mar. 14th. I think it is one of the earliest date among top schools.

So for applicants applying round 2, they always know from tepper first.
