Nice job on the GMAT, my friend! That'll definitely come in handy when you target those Top 20 programs. I can't tell you what schools are suitable for you (I just don't have enough information yet), but I CAN tell you that applying to bschool when you already have a Masters degree (or PhD!) is tricky.
Your job as an applicant is to make a very strong case as to why you need an MBA to achieve your career goals. And that's just more difficult when you've already got an advanced degree. They're going to look at your profile and wonder why you need another degree, when you've already got one! Of course, this CAN be overcome with a very smart application strategy (and verrrry smart career goals that connect your past experience to your future goals)... but it's not easy!
Even more, you must, must have work experience to get into business school, and most people with PhDs don't have much of that! It's great that you've got that part-time consulting work, but what else have you done professionally? Did you work as an environmental engineer? Have you done any full-time professional work? The admissions committee is going to need to see some real work experience and, even more, LEADERSHIP experience. That's what they're looking for. So if you've got that in your background, you're going to need to bring it front and center to compete at these top programs. Again, it's not easy, but we've seen many people do it successfully |
