Helloo my friend!  This is a great question—and one that HBS has been known to change its mind on from time to time. And I don’t want to lead you astray here!  Here is what I would recommend—call the admissions office directly.  Do not tell them your name, but describe your situation.  They will tell you what you should do—your case is very unique, and their perspective changes every year, with every case.  So don’t take my word for it—ask them directly!   That’s your safest path.  Just don’t tell them your name—they don’t need to know it.  Not yet anyway.  ; )

The MBA Program Highlights and the MBA Application are available online only.

The final deadline date to apply to the 2010 MBA Program was April 8, 2010. There are no exceptions to this final deadline date.

The following admissions criteria are required for admission to the 2011 MBA Program at Harvard Business School (for the graduating Class of 2013):

1) Bachelor's degree from a four year undergraduate program at an accredited US college/university or the equivalent from another country. The three year bachelor's degree from India, Australia, Europe and/or Canada is accepted.
2) Results of the GMAT or the GRE. The GMAT/GRE is required of all applicants. The unofficial GMAT/GRE scores must be reported in the application. There are no exceptions to this prerequisite for admission.
3) Results of the TOEFL, the IELTS, or the Pearson PTE are required of applicants who have not graduated from a university in which the medium of instruction is English.
4) Completion of the 2011 MBA Application, which must be submitted online only. No additional application materials or updates are accepted.

The 2011 MBA Application is available online only: www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/apply.html. The 2011 application essay questions are posted on the HBS website as well as in the application: www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/writtenapplication.html. Candidates may apply in Round 1- due October 1, Round 2- due January 11, or Round 3- in April, for admission in September of 2011: www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/applicationdates.html.

Transcript information is self reported into the online application by the candidate. Transcripts from all schools must be reported/scanned into the online application by the candidate. Upon admission to HBS, official transcripts must be sent to HBS directly from the university only at that time.

Due to the academic rigor of the MBA Program, candidates are strongly encouraged to complete introductory quantitative coursework, such as accounting, finance, economics and/or statistics prior to matriculation. Some candidates may have their admission to the MBA Program contingent on the completion of such courses prior to their enrollment.

All candidates must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English fluently.

Candidates may not transfer into HBS and HBS accepts no transfer of credits. Candidates who already have a MBA degree or other graduate degrees may apply to HBS. All applications are considered.

Yes, this is an automatic reply.  HBS is very strict about these types of questions indeed.  The trick is “or equivalent,” when looking at the four year degree issue.  Can you prove that your school is a four year degree equivalent?  If yes, give it a shot!

Hey there! That is the question indeed—only the admissions office can answer the question.  They will need to review your schooling, and make a determination.  You need to contact them with your specific background, and explain your situation.  It is up to them, and not up to me… L   And they make these determinations on a case-by-case basis.
