Advice needed - School Selection

Hi everyone,

I would appreciate any input from you on the school selection. For now, I'm thinking of schools/programs focusing on general management/consulting.

Here's my background:

4.5 years working experience in audit - 2.5 year in Canada, 2 year in Bermuda.

3.75 GPA from a top 10 Canadian university

US. CPA

GMAT: 670

What kind of recommendations do you want? I don't know of any programmes that focus on consulting (because at its core, doesn't this just mean providing advice? it's hard to train someone specifically to provide advice). For general management you probably want to look for schools that provide a well-rounded view of business- those with a strong core curriculum tend to do this.

As for your background, if you really want us to gleam something from it, you're going to have to tell us a 'story'. Why did you choose your university? Why did you choose your audit experience? What did you achieve there? Why did you get a CPA? What are your career goals? How does an MBA fit into this, and why now? And so on.

You'll notice that that brings you much closer to an application, but that's exactly why the application asks for these things- without these info, there's no way to tell if you are suitable for admission.

Nice to hear from you! Here's some detail,

Why university/why commerce program:  Obtained general business knowledge with a focus in accounting/economics/finance. Interest driven.

Why audit: exposure to different industries, and gained hand-on experience in the general business world. Meanwhile, narrowed down my focus/interest

Achievement: scholarship, Deen's honor list every year at school. US CPA; CFA level 2 Candidate.

Goal: risk control/general management in financial institutions.

How MBA fit: chance for a career change/networking.

Why now: 4.5 year experience. feel ready, and prepared.

Target school: US schools, top 20.

Any advice is welcomed!
