issue 48 Educators should teach facts only after their students have studied the ideas, trends, and concepts that help explain those facts.
With the fabulous rapid development of our society and explosion of knowledge ,there is a striking up concern over the issue of education, which incites abundant disagreements among people of distinctive personal experience, emotional concerns and educational backgrounds. The writer consent that educators should teach facts only after their students have studied the ideas, trends, and concepts that help explain those facts considering the conducive influence that these relating background possessed on expediting students' learning. I couldn't agree more with this point of view to some degree, however, we are required to remember that this [proposition ]is not always tenable.
Studying the ideas, trends, and concepts that help explain facts before studying facts could irrefutable benefit us. There is no greater example to illustrate this assertion by the process of learning obscure essays. When you are going to learn a new essay, your teacher would like to explain the author's experience, the social circumstance in which he lived, and so on. Then it is your turn to learn the essay. There is no doubt that you may find you are easily access to the amicable essay as well as its author's feeling. It is those settings which magically bridge you and the ever strange author. On the contrary, image that if you know nothing about the writer's background, could you be able to clearly understand his essay? There is no doubt that the answer tends to be negation rather than affirmation. This example show us that studying pertinent knowledge are helpful in studying unfamiliar facts.
However, we had better not dogmatically adhere to the author's perspective that studying ideas, trends, and concepts help explain facts should be followed by studying those facts. As universally acknowledged], nearly all things extant have a life cycle including burgeon, development and maturity, therefore it may be impossible for us to master every fact's backgrounds before we learn the fact, particularly for some new fact. Conversely, in order to comprehend those helpful backgrounds later, we are advised to learn the given facts at first. On this circumstance, studying facts are precedent than studying of ideas, trends, and concepts. There are abundant telling examples in the field of medicine to attest this standpoint. People used to be entirely unware of SARS before its earliest appearance in 2003,howbeit, after arduous research based on the given facts , humanity was able to illustrate its ideas, and even predict its trends. These breakthrough relevant to SARS contribute to humanity in curing abundant affected people.
In sum, the choice of whether learning relevant background depends on disparate situations. That is to say, we should spare no effort to use pertinent information as long as it is available, and when we fail to be provided with these information, it is necessary for us to learn extant facts to gain their ideas and trends instead of giving it up pitifully.
