argu 34

The vice president of human resources at Climpson Industries sent the following recommendation to the company's president.
34. In an effort to improve our employees' productivity, we should implement electronic monitoring of employees' Internet use from their workstations. Employees who use the Internet from their workstations need to be identified and punished if we are to reduce the number of work hours spent on personal or recreational activities, such as shopping or playing games. By installing software to detect employees' Internet use on company computers, we can prevent employees from wasting time, foster a better work ethic at Climpson, and improve our overall profits.
Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument. Be sure to explain how the argument depends on these assumptions and what the implications are for the argument if the assumptions prove unwarranted.

In the argument above, the author recommended that the Climpson Industries should install software on company computers to detect the employees the Internet use in order to prevent employees from wasting time and improve the companys overall profits. It seems at first glance to be an obvious conclusion to install the software. However, close scrutiny of the argument, rife with holes of assumptions, reveals the recommendation may not obtain the anticipated effect.

F
irst and foremost, the author based on the assumption that in the company exist the phenomenon of the employees Internet use from their workstations for personal or recreational activities, which is obviously unwarranted. If the employees in the company do spend much time  on activities which impair prolificacy, then the company should and must take some measures. But if in the company all employees are industrious, or few waste their time on Internet, the recommendation would be unnecessary. Unless, the author are certain that the adverse phenomenon  is general, we have every reason to doubt the trustworthiness of the assumption.

Even
if the assumption above is substantiated, the author still relies on another unpersuasive assumptionif the employees do not waste time on Internet, they would spend the additional time on something which makes sense to improve the companys profits. For instance, they would dally time on chat, playing cards and so on. And there are many methods to improve the employees efficiency, such as launching an education program to help employees manage their working time or modulating the type of achievement examination, which also contribute to the profit improvement.

I
n addition, the assumption that installing software on the computers would not generate unexpected consequences is not considered, even though we accept all the foregoing assumptions. If the software may influence the normal operation of the computers so that it would diminish the working efficiency. Or if the employees assume themselves suspected by the company so as to weaken their ascription sense and loyalty to the company, which would, of course, reduces the employees activity and efficiency. All of these negative affection would lead to the recommendation functioning reversely. Without ruling out these negative factors the assumption is unconvincing.

A
s it stands, though the recommendation to install software on company computers is plausible to function in effect, it is on the basis on several unreasonable assumptions. To corroborate the argument, the author ought to justify that phenomenon of time dallying on Internet is prevalent in the company and the recommendation of implementing the software would not influence the normal operation of computers or the work ethic of employees. Additionally, Climpson would also consider other better ways to improve the overall profits.

提纲第二点,感觉不够,“这个假设不一定成立;提高员工的生产力有很多方式”这个是不是差点什么呢。
是不是掐时间了,你就有点紧张,思路不畅啊
