how long time is MSF or MSFP taking to complete? What are the differences b/t each other?
ty
All graduate programs can be completed by 1-2 years, depends on your course selection. 10 courses (3 credits for each) are required for all MS programs. For full-time international students, you can take at most 4 courses per semester(sping and fall) and at least 3. If you wanna graduate within 1 year, you can choose to take courses in summer (4 as maximum) or even winter(1 as maximum). Usually, students complete the program by 1.5 or 2 years.
MSF core courses:
Investment
Corporate Finance
QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS FOR BUSINESS AND FINANCE
INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
MANAGEMENT OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
MSFP core courses:
PROFESSIONAL FINANCIAL PLANNING PRACTICE
INVESTMENTS AND CAPITAL ACCUMULATION
BENEFITS, COMPENSATION AND RETIREMENT
TRUSTS, GIFTS AND ESTATES
FEDERAL TAXATION OF INCOME
They are two totally different programs. MSF, like those in most schools, concentrates in financial instruments for companies by providing main courses like corporate finance, investment, derivative, etc. To complete the program, all 10 courses should be within finance area, which means no courses in other majors would be counted towards your degree.
MSFP program teaches students to help individuals achieve their financial goals through proper planning and wealth management. Such planning may be achieved by tax planning, real estate planning, and so on. Students have at least 1 chance to take electives in other majors (not very sure about this).
Hope this would be helpful. |
