I graduated from top Chinese School and then have a master in computer science in US. Worked as programmer for many years before I got a master of financial engineering degree from a top school. GPA 3.6/4.0. I could get recommendation but since there is no research experience, most likely they would just say I am doing very well in core classes. After MFE I worked on wallstreet, now I am a VP at a bank. I am strong in Math and graduated top 0.01% from Chinese undergraduate school. I want to go back to school for a phd in finance and teach and research for the rest of my life. Interests: asset pricing, dynamic portfolio management, risk management. I scored 770 in GMAT before, I will aim the same or higher this time.
Concern: 1. I may be too old for top school 2. Give up good pay, opportunity costs high 3. Nobody knows what job markets will be like after 5-7 years.
However, I strongly feel I am called to do research. Any suggestions on what type of school I should apply?
