162 Some famous athletes and entertainers earn millions of dollars every year. Do you think these people deserve such high salaries? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
There has been a controversy over the issue of whether the famous athletes and entertainment stars deserve income of millions of dollars annually. Some people attack that they just appear for several hours or even a few minutes and then take away so much money. As far as I am concerned, I believe what they get is approximately equal to what they create for our society. In the following discussion, I would like to reason and provide evidence to support my point of view.
To begin with, these celebrities' impact on the society and individuals in general, is undeniable. As a result, their behaviors can bring huge economic profits to themselves, the clubs they belong to and their countries. For example, a successful basketball player, say, Michael Jordan, hired by Nike ltd., greatly improved the sales volume of the Nike shoes. He just took away a reasonable portion of the margin. Therefore, everybody accepts his high salary.
Next, these brilliant stars are only reaping what they have paid before. Before they become public figures, they suffered from unbelievable endurance, pain and sweat. On the one hand, they do not know whether they will succeed, but they have to keep on striving even countless of their peers quit. On the other hand, during many athletes, daily training, they are physically hurt, the reports often make un desirable comments on them, but nothing can stop them. Therefore, successful athletes and entertainers are just harvesting what they cultivated years ago.
Admittedly, dissenters may argue that scientists or teachers greatly contribute to our society, either. Obviously, they fail to realize that the reasonability of the social value standards. These stars' contributions carry more weight than that of others, no matter at present or in the future.
To sum up, given the reasons discussed above, it is safe to draw the conclusion that the famous athletes and entertainers deserve the money. In fact, when they take the money, they pay a lot of taxes, the portion of which is much larger than that of the common people. That is their value to the society for the second time.
