"Do so versus Do it" According to Manhattan
1.Do so can refer to an entire action, including a verb, its objects, and its modifiers.
Do sofunctions like a pronoun.
2.On the other hand, in the phrasedo it, the pronoun it must refer to an actual noun antecedent.
