我觉得会有,如果你的target是m7。关键看你essay怎么发挥了。如果3年纯技术,没什么项目管理的经验,跟人打交道很少,很难写出compelling stories打动别人。你可以更着重extracurricular的leadership,但是也会emphasize你的limited professional experience
对啊,上面有很多hidden assumptions: 比如 1. have leadership experiences - really hard for someone with only 3 yrs right out of school, and have been focusing on pure technical side 2. *a* MBA program Vs m7 MBA programs
我去年就是3 yrs pure technical,光target m7,GPA和GMAT都不错,最好的结果也只是waitlist。得到的feedback就是strong academic, but limited professional experiences;另一个学校跟我说,everything's ok, but you don't stand out。
我也觉得software dev experience给我的帮助是巨大的,逻辑训练、multi-tasking,time management等等,communication skills自然不会差,因为经常需要用最简洁的email给一个非英语母语的人解释最复杂的technical problem。但这些在你有一个concrete example前都很难在essay里面表现出来,而这些concrete examples主要就来自project management experience,因为只有跟人打交道的essay才可以让没有technical background的adcom看懂,产生共鸣。此外,这个background把你放在了2 of the most competitve applicant pools - Chinese and programmers. you'll have a really hard time differentiating yourself
所以,如果你是想进*a* MBA program, sure, fire away。如果你想进top 15, doable, if you execute well。如果是非m7不可,it's a stretch

I got in Ross and Duke this year w/ 4 yrs of experience. It was a great deal of hard work. Still no luck at m7 though...but at least I had interviews, so it’s doable, but you have to jump and reach
