i don't see a big difference btw working in a company and doing phd. Doing phd is also working. It's just you are working on different things in different "firms".

your "american dream" is to live in the us? if so, then either doing phd in poly uni or doing master in VT is hard to make u accomplish your dream.

Agnes Cheng from LSU is moving to Poly Uni this year. She will be your supervisor. i don't see who else in poly uni could supervise phd students
