Interesting. They've doubled down on the behavioural/ failure component, changing it to 3 examples * 200 words each.
Why MBA is now back in the mix, I guess many applicants were completely ignoring the question in their zeal to prove how qualified they are, and forgetting to show how logical and robust their thinking about their careers were.
And that last question... Looks very Stanford-like, no? Probably allows for more creativity, although with such questions the danger is always to overthink it. Always go with a good, strong answer than try to come up with something 'unique' just to make an impression. That could fall flat.
"Why HBS" should be evident from all the reasons you listed you want an MBA. You don't have to be explicit about it since they didn't ask, but if you're saying 'you want to be a professional back-end hedge fund manager with high-end specialised financial skills', then you may be a better fit for schools like Columbia, Chicago and Wharton.
Choose reasons for "why MBA" (and for that matter, "why this career goal") that make you a good natural fit with HBS.
Hi Jason, I hear ya, thanks~ Yep I've been asking around and getting mixed responses - some say I don't have to waste word counts since they didn't ask, while others say I'd better touch that for a little in 3 lines or something.

Don't waste your words answering questions they didn't ask.
