I guess that if you have low GPA, make sure you have a high GPA in Japan and a high GMAT to proof that you have changed.  The bottom line is that GMAT is the only direct comparison among different students.  So make sure you are fully prepared before taking GMAT. The best is a high score in one shot; then you can provide explanations about low GPA in your essays.   If you cannot get a high score after two exams, you are a slow learning student because of your low GPA.
