Can We Trust First Impression?

According to nowadays quick pace of live, more and more people tend to judge a person by first impression. On the other side, there are still many people in our society hold the point that whether a person is good or not could only be seen after a quite long time. But I deem that gold could shine only after the sand on its surface is washed away.

 

On one hand, to judge a person by the first impression though may have some advantages, such as it will save much time, it is generally right and more convenient. But I think it is a little bit rash and inaccurate to make a quick decision just by what is just presented in front of you. Quite frequently, you might feel regret about your decision. For example, you may suddenly make a new friend for the only reason that the girl has an inviting appearance. But later when you two get to know each other, you will probably find some odd habits the beauty has, which you never thought about and cannot bare. Then, the result is quite obvious that you two will break up.

 

On the other hand, take a long time to observe a person before the conclusion could be drawn is an excellent policy. Like flowers could not always be gorgeous all the year round, people who have some unique ability could not show all the time. But as time goes on, some situations will give chances to these people. In other words, they will get time to "shine". Another reason is that with time and environment change, people is about to change too, because we human have the ability to adapt ourselves to specific situations and the environment also has an effect on us. Thus a conclusion came from a long-time observation is more reliable.

 

In short, I deem that we should never judge a person only through the first impression, for which we might get cheated, but through an observation from all aspects, which provides a complete view of a person.
