Which is more important, knowledge from book or TV?

Topic: some people like to learn from book, but others consider TV is more appropriate. Give advantages and disadvantages of the two positions and explain which position you support.

 

It is commonly believed for most of people that knowledge gained from book. With the rapid development of technology, a variety of sources were available for studying, in addition to book,  TV has become a mass media and play a very import role in our daily life. To learn knowledge is much more open-ended and all-inclusive than to learn from book. Some people are like to learn knowledge from book; in contrast, watching TV is a pleasant way to learn knowledge for others.

An advantage of learning knowledge from book is that it could offer you more systemic and wider range knowledge than learning from TV. If we want to gain a concrete knowledge about one field, in libraries, we can find a series books associated with the certain field only if we have already acquired the basic reading skills, for example, the knowledge about chemistry includes organic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytic chemistry, and the list will go on, according to these books, you will have a comprehensive perception about chemistry. Unlike the knowledge obtained from TV that is only showed you part of the something, the most important is that the knowledge is very primary and not professional.

On the other hand, TV sometimes shapes a more vivid picture to help us to understand. By using photo and sound to convey the idea to people, there is no doubt that it is easier to understand and remember one thing from TV than book, which often give us an abstract concept that is hard to comprehend and easily forget. For instance, may be you have learned a skill how to make dumpling from a cookbook, anyone can guarantee you have mastered all the steps to prepare it after a few days, by contraries, a program about cooking dumpling on TV will become a memorable thing to you. Moreover, in view of some special individuals, such as children and disabilities, watching TV is a proper way to gain knowledge.

When it comes to which source is important and appropriate to gain knowledge, the answers vary. Some knowledge can be acquired only through books. It is hard to imagine we have a good understanding of C program without reading computer books. On the other hand, some knowledge can be obtained only through TV. When we try to learn how weave a sweater, how detailed you explained in the book, even give some illusions, maybe it is useless. We have to watch TV and follow it step by step. Therefore, I think it is superficial to say that which methods of gaining knowledge is important, it is depends on circumstances.
