标题: 一道GWD语法
                                                                        
                                    Gas hydrates, chemical compounds of water and natural gas, are increasingly being studied for their potential to be huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor instability, and significant contributors to global warming.                                    
                                    
这是一道GWD的题，据说之争议题。分为A派和E派 多数人认为是E 。

我的问题有点弱哦，我想问一下 A如果表示为to be...., possibly causing.., and (to be) ..会更好一点 ？

是不是and 作为连接词 连接两个动作，助动词or 情态动词 是不是一定要保留 即： A should do B and should do C.. / A is decided to do B and to do C ...诸如此类。。。
问题有些弱。。。。求大侠们轻拍。。。。 = =

nope，there is no controversy here . The answer is definitely E

1. you have to figure out what the sentence is trying to convey
2. the Gas hydrate are being studied as three separate things （ resevoris / causes / contributors）
3. in E， these three element are made into parallel structure → therefore，correct

In A
even if you want to construe the ”causing“ as ving modifying the preceding clause， the element after ”and“ is not parallel（causing is not parallel with contributor）

so → eliminate

但我的主要问题是。。。是不是and 作为连接词 连接两个动作，助动词or 情态动词 是不是一定要保留 即： A should do B and should do C.. / A is decided to do B and to do C ...诸如此类。。。

A should do B and do C. should 是否省略都可以. 保留should 看上去更平行，省略should 看上去简练。

A decides to do B and (to) do C.
留着 to, 就是 to do B 和 to do C 平行
省略to, 就是 do B 和 do C 平行
and 作为平行的标志 不像 not only..but also.. 已经锁定了平行的部分
所以可以由你来选择哪两个部分作为平行
两个都是正确的
