Australian embryologists have found evidence that suggests that the elephant is descendedfrom an aquatic animal, and its trunk originally evolving as a kind of snorkel.

答案是E，可是解释说C的with 部分结构错误，错在哪里啊？

感觉WITH有修饰anaquatic animal的嫌疑。
可是OG上说是因为不能跟在独立句子后面。为什么？

说错了：OG上的解释是WITH后面不能跟独立的句子。
这是我摘得别人的解释

从e中可以看到，its trunk originally evolved 是一个完整独立的句子。而with结构一般是加名词，或者是独立主格结构，是不能加完整的句子的。所以c后半句是错误的。如果你把evolved硬要认为是done，符合独立主格，那么也是逻辑不同，它的trunk怎么可能被进化呢
