答案选e 题目懂了想问一个细节
我问一个很简单的。。赵丽老师的gmat根本大法，不是说动词优于形容词吗？e中，the chemical irritant 中的irritant 形容词后置，但是the chemical irritating it中irritate却是动词耶。。。这个适用这个规律不。那个是比较简洁的表达？如果是 e怎么反而优选了？求解啊啊啊不胜感激

这道题以前也被别人问过无数遍了，别的不说。先问一下LZ，知不知道the chemical irritating it中为什么用 irritating这个现在分词形式？而且，这道题目重点测试什么？

本来是the chemical that irritate it 把定从变为后置定语用现在分词修饰变成the chemical irritating it.对吗？考的平行，还有不重复，attemp 和谐trying重复了。对吗？谢谢你呀，求指教

好的，LZ很清楚irritating作形容词来修饰chemical，那还不如直接用the chemical irritant表达比较简单直接，而且还避免了it的指代问题。而且，LZ也很明白，D选项最大的问题就是attempt to try and metabolize的表达混乱。所以不必须去纠结这些什么说法，而且动词优于形容词这个说法本身就有问题，太绝对。

谢谢你啊！！！还想为你一个，不是说which在非限制定语从句指代的时候，若前面是svo的结构，只能修饰o，不可跨域v修饰s吗？我想问问同位语是不是也这样呢？也不可以跨过v修饰s吗？^ ^ 谢谢！

同位语和which一样，不可以跨过动词指代。

另外，上面那个问题是这样的。chemical irritant比起chemical that is irritating it要简洁，前面只要2个单词，后面要4个。所以简洁并不是单纯单词间的比较，而是整个句子语义简洁的比较。其次，it逻辑上是指代organism,但是organism在这句话中是形容词(organism's trying),所以it没有先行词，指代错误。
