标题: 向各位请教一个it作形式主语还是指代成分的问题~~~~~~~~upup

The Industrial Revolution, making it possibleto mass-produce manufactured goods, was marked by their use of newmachines, new energy sources, and new basic materials.

A. making it possible tomass-produce manufactured goods, was marked by their use of

B. making possible the massproduction of manufactured goods, marked by the use of

C. which made it possiblethat manufactured goods were mass-produced, was marked by their using

D. which made possible themass production of manufactured goods, was marked by the use of (D)

E. which made the massproduction of manufactured goods possible and was marked by using

在语法笔记中看到这么一道题，答案是D，选对了。。不过我的思路是看到make it possible立马就觉得it没有可以指代的成分排除AC，可是语法笔记上说用make it possible to mass-produce或makepossible the mass prodcution都没有问题

所以我的疑问就是，，，，如何区分it什么时候作指代成分，什么时候充当形式主语呢？？
语法比较菜~~~~谢谢各位指教探讨

it is ...  to do/ that . make it possible...
即：形式主/宾语it: 无名词指代对象，用于指代to do结构或that从句
形式宾语make /feel/believe/find  it  +adj (for sb.)+to do/ that从句

^ ^  加油~

只有这些情况做形式~ 不要试图去找它的先行词~

哈~ 对了~还有几种情况小心~
it 后面加名词 it只能指代to do ,不能是that 从句
On account of a law passed in 1933, making it a crime punishable by imprisonment that a United States citizen hold gold in the form of bullion or coins, immigrants found that on arrival in the United States they had to surrender all of the gold they had brought with them.
这个句子是错误的， it 不能指代that后面一整句。

it 不能指代介词短语！！

1.不定式作主语：

Awkward: TO RESIST temptation is futile.

TO RESIST temptation 作为这个句子的主语，虽然这个句子语法正确但却显得头重脚轻。可以改写为：

Right: IT is futile TO RESIST temptation.

这里的it 指代不定式TO RESIST temptation.

2.that从句作主语：

THAT we scored at all gave us encouragement.

That 引导的句子作为这句话的主语，相当于一个名词部分，但是这个句子依然头重脚轻，所以可以改成：

Right: IT gave us encouragement THAT we scored at all.
