各位高人们， prep 里面有这样一道题：

答案是C，说是用了倒装，正确语序是both the northern and the southern Indian alphabets derive from Aramaic script.

这样说我是理解的。。可是这里为什么要用倒装语序啊。。直接写 " , from which both the northern and the southern Indian alphabets derive" 可以吗？

derive是develop from的意思，原句意思是AS是从 northern and southernIndian alphabets 演变而来的，正常语序无倒桩啊

LS说反了，从句的意思就是both the northern and the southern Indian alphabets derive from which （which 指代 Aramaicscript）。之所以倒装是因为（在英语句子里会经常碰到），northern and southernIndian alphabets 作为从句中的主语过长会造成头重脚轻的感觉，所以进行倒装把谓语动词derive前置了，为了平衡结构而进行倒装在英语里是常有的事。

正常语序也可以，但是人家倒装使得文章句法更富变化，也更地道。

原来是为了文法更加丰富啊。。我懂了。。。谢谢楼上的诸位啊

倒装可以避免头重脚轻，而且这里后面未划线的部分southernIndian alphabets 也决定了必须用倒装啊，这是主语的一部分啊。
