这句句子去掉修饰的话,其实就是 a technique is finding uses in medicine, archaeology, and criminology。
其中句首分词短语 Originally developed for detecting air pollutants修饰主语a technique。

关于这点我存在疑虑,你可以看下C选项关于which的解释,OG的解释是:relative clause introduced by which incorrectly and illogically modifies emssion

Originally developed for directing air pollutants, a technique called proton-induced X-ray emission, which can quickly analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destorying it, is finding uses in medicine, archaelogy, and criminology.

(A) Originally developed for detecting air pollutants, a technique called proton-induced X-ray emission, which can quickly analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it,
(B) Orignially developed for detecting air pollutants, having the ability to analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it, a technique called proton-induced X-ray emission
(C) A technique originally developed for detecting air pollutants, called proton-induced X-ray emission, which can quickly analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it,
(D) A technique originally developed for detecting air pollutants, called proton-induced X-ray emission, which has the ability to analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance quickly and without destroying it,
(E) A technique that was originally developed for detecting air pollutants and has the ability to analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance quickly and without destroying the substance, called proton-induced X-ray emission,

Solution:
First, this is the longest question I have ever met, so I will simplify a little bit. Here proton-induced X-ray emission is the subject.
A: "(opening modifier), (noun) (modified by necessary descriptive phrase)
B: "(opening modifier), (modifer), (noun) (modified by necessary descriptive phrase)
C: "(Noun), (modifier), (modifer), which"
D: "(Noun), (modifier), (modifer), which"
E: "(Noun), (modifier),  (verb), (noun)

so we....only can go with A

106. Originally developed for detecting air pollutants, a technique called proton-induced X-ray emission, which can quickly analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it, is finding uses in medicine, archaeology, and criminology.

(A) Originally developed for detecting air pollutants, a technique called proton-induced X-ray emission, which can quickly analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it,

(B) Originally developed for detecting air pollutants, having the ability to analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it, a technique called proton-induced X-ray emission(修饰+修饰+主谓宾,错,曼哈顿语法)

(C) A technique originally developed for detecting air pollutants, called proton-induced X-ray emission, which can quickly analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance without destroying it,(called后面这个句子应该修饰technique而不是pollutants)

(D) A technique originally developed for detecting air pollutants, called proton-induced X-ray emission, which has the ability to analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance quickly and without destroying it, (called后面这个句子应该修饰technique而不是pollutants)

(E) A technique that was originally developed for detecting air pollutants and has the ability to analyze the chemical elements in almost any substance quickly and without destroying the substance, called proton-induced X-ray emission,(原句中有主句有从句,而这句话中将从句变成了主句的地位,用and进行连接,是改变了原文的逻辑含义,且called后面这个句子应该修饰technique而不是前面的substance,有歧义)

同疑惑,根据OG上的解释,为何同样都是“...emission, which..."结构,只有C选项“relative clause introduced
by which incorrectly and illogically modifies emission.”

The difference is in the placement of the various phrases.

A: "(opening modifier), (noun) (modified by necessary descriptive phrase), which" - in this structure, which refers to the noun. Note that the few words right after "technique" are simply the name of that technique. These words ("technique called proton-induced X-ray emission") collectively make up the extended noun phrase to which "which" refers. The single-word noun is technique but the other words are necessary to understand what technique we're talking about.

C: "(Noun) (modifier), (modifer), which" - in this structure, we've separated what had been the necessary descriptive phrase from the noun, so it is no longer a part of any extended noun phrase. As a result, the "which" in this case really does only apply to "emission" rather than to a "technique called emission" b/c "a technique called emission" as a simple noun phrase, is no longer part of the sentence.
