This population’s descendants grow to be, on average, 40 centimeters shorter than Turfil sunflowers found on the mainland. Tufe Island is significantly drier than Tufe Peninsula was. So the current average height of Tufe’s Turfil sunflowers is undoubtedly at least partially attributable to changes in Tufe’s environmental conditions.

个人感觉C里面的 they did 指的是 sunflowers..growing to be.. 感觉这个结构比较怪异，OG里好像没有拿DID来替代分词的用法吧。还是我理解错了？

另外，谁能解释一下，具体的思路。做的时候凭感觉选的C,但一直没弄清楚。

1.DID应该可指代分词，分词实际还是当个动词看，这里did好像没有更合适的指代，我觉得是grow。

2.文章描述了个现象，给了个解释：changes in Tufe’s environmental conditions

C中有个assumption题答案的一个明显的标志词not, 这样排除它因：changes in the mainland’s environment。
