对于E项不是很明白，as不可以理解为“当。。。时”吗？另外，白勇语法中说：the rest of +名词,谓语动词的单复数由名词决定，这里的contribute应该没错吧？我感觉错误点就只有return，请问是这样吗？

e中的transportation对应returns。the rest of……的中心词是rest，谓语动词contribute要用单数形式

噢，刚刚搜到的,表示度量、时间等复数名词作主语时，常把这些复数名词看作一个整体，谓语动词应用单数形式。
9 inches看作整体用单数
