选A 比较结构清晰
B中用定语从句修饰spots扭曲了原句本意
C D中although引导的从句中应该具有主语和谓语
E句子表述不清

我觉得which从句就近修饰surface，那么就产生意思错误与混淆了

首先我们读题，先看句子的主谓结构，Sunspots是主语，are（appear）是谓语。很好的主谓一致，然后我们读原句掌握大概的意思：sunspots 是什么和怎么样了，应该有两个谓语形容，一个主系（are visible as dark spots）另一个是被动（have never been sighted on ）

恩恩然后我们看选项
(A)    are visible asdark spots on the surface of the
Sun but have never been sighted on 挺完整的，逻辑也合适，先保留

(B)    are visible asdark spots that never have been
sighted on the surface of the Sun  have been sighted 修饰了spots, dark spots 就是sunspots, 这里就出现了结构的累赘，直接用并列连接两个动作修饰sunspots就好，所以b可以放下

(C)    appear on the surface of theSun as dark spots
although never sighted at  although 不像but 可以主语省略连接两个谓语。although 做连接词后面要接一个完整的句子(放句首修饰主语" although ving-ved， n " 那种不算)。所以c放下

(D)    appear as dark spots on thesurface of the Sun,
although never having been sighted at although 连接完整句子，缺了主语；“having been” 高度警惕。d 放下

(E)    appear as dark spots on theSun's surface,
which have never been sighted on  which 修饰了 sun's furface ,指代错误。

大概思路就是这样啦，一家之言仅供参考参考参考

首先，对你的分析表示赞一下。但是，对于D选项的分析实在有不同见解，我认为，never having been sighted at 在句子结构上一点问题都没有，而且never having been sighted在这里的确没有作定语而是正确的作了状语，所以它的错误在于逻辑意思上，although 的使用使得它和appear as dark spots on thesurface of the Sun这前面半句的意思完全混乱了，这才是D选项的错误。

那就是although never having been sighted 这种用法是不是放句后是可以的，就是正确修饰了逻辑主语的话，语法上不算错？

是作为状语的，状语的位置就比较灵活。
