Since February, the Federal Reserve has raised its short-term interest rate target five times, and because of the economy’s continued strength, analysts have been predicting for weeks that the target will be raised again in November.

B.with the economy’s strength continuing, analysts predicted for weeks that the target

C.because the economy continues strong, analysts predicted for weeks that the target would

选A 还是选C ? 我觉得 A 中的predict 应该是个非延续性的动词吧，用现在进行完成时是不是不好呢？但是 C 中的 strong 是个adj ，怎么能修饰 continue 呢？很纠结啊~ 求筒子们指条明路啊！！

一下摘自一个牛人的帖子；
我支持C。因为：
1、在GMAT里，forweeks、during、over等等不一定是完成事态的标志。出现了太多这样的例子，如OG中有一题讲某个文明flourished在一段时间。所以，用什么时态完全看该事件发生在哪个time frame，句子中各事件的先后关系如何。所以analysts predicted for weeks就其本身来说时态没有问题。
2、如果用analysts have been predicting，也就是说该事件和前一事件the Federal Reserve has raised its short-term interest rate target基本处在一个time frame中，那么它也应该发生在Since February所指的time frame中，那么另外一个时间状语for weeks就有些尴尬。这些weeks到底处在什么时间段？而且几个月内（不会是几个星期内），the Federal Reserve升息5次，只在最近几个星期analysts才持续预测吗？似乎有些不合逻辑。如果用predicted，就不涉及这个问题了，反正是在过去预测的，管它是什么时候。
3、because of the economy’s continued strength和because the economy continues strong相比，明显后者更好，人们预测要继续提高短期目标利率，不是因为经济的强度，而是因为经济的趋势，。前者的意思只能是勉强说得过去，但GMAT考题中很少出现不符合人们思维习惯的理解。最优选项应该是各部分都最优。因而应该选择because the economy continues strong。
4、平行并不要求时态完全一致，也有不少这样的例子。
一家之言，仅供参考，请大家继续讨论。

future tense is needed since a future event is being discussed. thus B is still a wrong choice.
well, left A and C , which one we should pick is actually a dilemma here you guys are talking about.
for answer C, i think "continues strong " is actually a correct usage since "continue" here is acting as a " linking verb", same usage as " feels happy", i crossed out C simply just because i deemd it awrkward by using past tense while " for weeks" here actually calls for present perfect tense ...

left over A, which was the one i picked and which is the one i personally think is apropos for this question .

let me know if you guys have different ideas.

i think the tense used in A is more accurate than that used in C. " for weeks" is a little hint that suggests that the perfect tense is more appropriate.

predict that 后面通常用将来时态啊，表示预测未来啊，这里的would 是 will 的过去式，因为前面是 predicted。

1. because of
似乎以往的讨论都忽视了because of。because of 强调因果关系，表示明确的因果关系。本例中，经济持续强势与分析家做出预测之间没有明确的、直接的、客观上的因果关系。

2. for weeks
predicted for weeks 无问题，见例句：
1) SCC worked for years to fund road.
2) Some plays are so successful that they run for years on end.
3) Excel Workbook (with Macros) that Worked for Years in Excel 2003 Failing in Excel 2007.
可见，for years, for weeks 等并非是完成时标志，只是说明这段时间一直都在做某件事而已。

3. predicted that ... would
并无问题，以下是朗文例句：
Newspapers predicted that Davis would be re-elected.

4. the economy continues strong
无问题，经贸文章常见此说法。

这题明显选A
看见and，证明since feb这个对后面也有效，明显使用完成时态
C已经错没边儿了
because后面这是一般现在时，真的没问题吗？economics永远strong？跟后面的predicted搭配吗？
这题一点也不争议

肯定是A。

都是predict for weeks 不存在说延续不延续的问题。

C选项
because the economy continues strong, analysts predicted for weeks that the target would.....本身就paradox.因为现在的经济持续强盛，所以analysts 在过去预计都是根据已经知道的预计不知道的。在这里是根据现在的论据。在过去预计未来？说的通么？
