答案是B没有问题，我的问题是E ：A doubling of the apples is awkward and, when joined with that it did, suggests doubling the apples themselves, not the amount of apples.我的理解是it指the amount of acreage, did是produced 那么就是the amount of acreage produced the apples,哪里来的doubling the apples themselves???? 望牛牛们赐教，感激不尽！！

我是菜鸟，按我理解，awkward就不看了，a doubling 这种结构都没见过的，不要考虑了吧

你需要把比较对象弄清楚，double或是twice的中心词是amount而不是apples

个人见解：
E项中the same amount of acreage produces a doubling of the apples that it did in 1910

E项中APPLES 后加了THAT从句修饰APPLES，amount失去比较对象，所以会DOUBLING OF THE APPLES （同样的土地产生了倍增的苹果）。而B项前后有比较结构，比较的是AMOUNT的产量，清晰

而且doubling好像大多用在数学中，做“倍增”讲
