另有点想讨论一下. intended在这应该不能翻译为"打算...; 想要..",否则就有portfolios被打算或被想要... 实在别扭. 而如果翻译成"为...准备"即"portfolios是为在牛市和熊市都取得好的投资结果而准备的", 似乎更好一点. 不过可能想太多了.

我有下面三方面理解：
1）认识分词的限定性和非限定性修饰之间形式上的区别：限定性修饰是分词紧跟被修饰对象，中间不能有任何任何成分；这里显然是非限定修饰；
2）非限定修饰整个句子：所以intended不是修饰portfolio，表示目的
3）并不是所有过去分词的逻辑主语就是动作的承受者，因为有的动词本身是不及物动词，其过去分词就表示仅表动作已经完成而没被动的意思。薄冰的语法书中不表示被动的过去分词做状语的用法：Approached in the dark the bulb looked lonely and purposeless. (Approached ... 做时间状语，在黑暗中走路的时候，...）；Gone from home so long, they joyously embraced their mates of boyhood. (表原因 - 他们久离家乡，...）
