Their arrival livened up an otherwise dull afternoon.他们的到来使本来枯燥的下午活跃起来 otherwise修饰dull

我对下面的两点有点疑问，麻烦lz帮我看看吧

这里是句子副词吗?是不是应该是otherwise做连词啊。

这种用法是不是就是相当于if虚拟语气啊，
lz看我highlight出的部分，我对这里不是很理解，我想如果按照虚拟语气的话，那个got用的是不是不对呢？换成had gotten？？

你第一个问题，我也不明白，为啥它这么写。（我没看那么仔细）。
第二问题，我觉得解释没问题，句意上说过去（got）买的票， would never havebeen able to（表未来的预测（根据GMAC上对would用法，对将来有条件的发生的事情一种预测）请参照OG 16,41,67,122,139 的 OG 关于would解释。 是不是虚拟语气，我就不知道，我一般不往虚拟语气（那种高级用法上想，不懂）。
