答案选E……..我选的是C，理由是BUT连接两个独立的句子要有完整的主谓吧？而E中有几个地方不解，then 后面没有it，并且behind in its paying省略掉了its ?求解释~~非常感谢！~

不选C的原因是，
1 如果加主语并把后面作为从句来处理的话，应该是it was proved,
2 fall behind in sth. 或者 fall behind in doing sth. ，所以如果加its的话，应该是falling months behind in its payment 而不是paying
