标题: 大全106，求教aid的用法

1. Among the objects found in the excavated temple were small terra-cotta effigies left by supplicants who were either asking the goddess Bona Dea’s aid in healing physical and mental ills or thanking her for such help.

(A) in healing physical and mental ills or thanking her for such help

(B) in healing physical and mental ills and to thank her for helping

(D) to heal physical and mental ills or to thank her for such help（A）

(E) to heal physical and mental ills or thanking her for such help

请教Aid有几种用法，谢谢！

aid作为动词一般作为及物动词，直接跟名词，即：sb1 aid sb2.

aid作为名词，一般结构为：the aid in doing sth

我也错了这道.当时总觉得in healing...or thanking有点歧义。是不是如果thanking要和healing并列的话，必须补出前面那个in介词，否则就是和asking并列呢？

Bona Dea’s aid 中aid 是名词，而in healing physical and mental ills短语则做定语修饰aid,表示在某方面的帮助。or thanking her for such help和前面的 either asking并列。

本题从逻辑上看,thanking肯定不可能跟healing并列的,但是从形式上看,难道thanking就不能跟healing并列共同修饰aid吗?是不是要共同修饰aid的话,thanking前面一定要补出那个介词in?

由either。。or结构可以看出thanking和asking是平行的

thank的动作只能由人来发出，也就是：

who were either asking .......or thanking her for such help.

如果thanking 和healing 并列的话，就只能理解为aid发出thanking的动作，不符合逻辑。：)

难道就不能是ask sb to do sth吗? 选E用不定式, asking the goddness Bona Dea's aid to heal....

aid就是个名词, 做为ASK的对象. 是不是ask sb to do sth,其中的SB只能是人, 不能是物啊. 这么解释好象就不能用不定式了.

应当这样理解才对：
1、如果是asking the goddness Bona Dea's aid to heal的话，容易被理解为：aid是动作（heal）的发出者，显然不正确；
2、改成ask sb to do sth的结构，应当是这样的：ask the goddness Bona Dea to aid...........

add in doing sth是一个固定用法，比如this book is an aid in learning physics。

add to也有这个固定用法，不过值得注意的是这里的to是一个介词，后面接对象，比如aid to this company，或者aid to one africa country。

ask sb's aid to do sth不正确，这种结构要求ask后面必须是sb，而不是非人。

如果是 (E) to heal physical and mental ills or thanking her for such help

用aid to 的话，肯定是这样理解的，就是aid 是名词，to 是介词，这样是可以的。

但是asking for sth 才可以，

所以 asking for the goddess Bona Dea's aid to heal physical and mental ills or thanking her for such help 就对了。

介词短语并列，介词是一定要写出的 be famous for X and for Y

eg. She provides aid to victims.
