此题选D，不明白为什么用WERE？

此题选D，不明白为什么用WERE？

我是先看到句首的being China's first adminstrators ，注意這裡是複數

在來又看到後方的同位語，in the sense that they developed a ....

所以之後後方應該是the Shang，同時the Shang這個東西是複數，

因此可以刪除ABC，

最後是代名詞指代問題，E選項的its有問題~

所以選D

句子中又有were又有are会不会有时态混用之嫌？

对于C的排除，我的理解是，从原句的and，得出句意要表达两个并列的意思，既是culture，又well know，而C把culture变成插入语，降级了，句意成了主要讲well know的事情，所以错。
而元元的GWD语法笔记说C是因为“通过 in the sense they....可以明确 the Shang想要表达的商朝的人们，所以应该为are well known;”我不这么认为。因为首先从正确选项看，the Shang were the first literate culture，已经不是人可以发出的动作了，其次they developed a coherent bureaucracy，也不一定非要人才发展处官僚主义，一个国家也可以自发形成官僚主义，虽然内因是人，但是并不表示不能用国家做主语。
