The answer is D. What's difference between C and D, or what's wrong with choice C ?

The answer is A. what's the problem with choice C?

D. Because they desire to be as thin as possible, young female ballet dancers and gymnasts sometimes fail to maintain good eating habits.
E. Young female dancers and gymnasts sometimes fail to maintain good eating habits because they desire to be as thin as possible.

The answer is D. The difference between D and E is the position of the word "because". For my thinking, choice E is more close to the original sentence, but why D is better?[/face]

1, 'contact' is a noun, so u want to use an adj. instead of an adv. to modify it
2, choice A doesn't seem like a right answer as there should have 1 complete structure before and after semicolon. however, there is no jubject after. ARE U SURE U GOT THE RIGHT STUFF?
3, i have no idea and i am waiting for help.

btw, i really wish GMAT only had 2 choices as here

第一题：初读来，我觉得C选项的directly不爽，但找不到理由。后来看D选项，觉得爽

我想原因可能是latter是个形容词，directly放在latter后不知道到底是修饰latter还是修饰contact的

第二题：原句要表达一个“因为”的意思，所以必须是有for，C选项改变句子意思了。另外，nations, such as individuals 这个怎么都不对，such as 表示举例，nations怎么举例到 individuals呢？

第三题：天山的题，讨论过的。我做的时候，也是觉得两个选项没什么区别，但是我觉得D读的爽。后来大家讨论，记得讨论结果是E选项的they容易指代歧义，不如D好。你再查查讨论看，我可能记得不对也说不定。

Thanks for your guys' explainations. heh... Based on the Batman's explaination on the 2nd one, the subject after ";"semi. is nations.
