B: removing 分词结构和后面the clearing of名词结构不对称

C: the removing 动名词应该改removal

D: which没指代

E: which 没指代

D,E排除很轻松,但这题把我一个思路打乱了,根据题干"the native fox population and the clearing of surrounding woodlands"中透露出来的信息,难道不应该用the removing吗?题干提供的信息限制划线部分的内容是不会错的啊.

大牛救命啊呵呵.

题干提供的信息限制划线部分的内容，这不是绝对的，我觉得，尤其不能限制绝对的形式相同。

GMAC 反复强调可以用动词表达的，不用名词，可以用名词表达的，不能用动名词。但是这也不是绝对，还是要看逻辑意思。

哎～慢慢摸索吧，做来做去，最大的感觉就是什么都不是绝对地～

新东方有个公理：GMAT选用词语的优先性的次序是动词>形容词>名词>动名词

虽然不是绝对的，但大部分情况下都是适用的

刚查了下clearing这个单词,又把思路整理了下.目前想法如下:

这题是出题人故意挖的一个陷阱,clearing形式上是动名词,其实是一个名词,空旷地的意思.出题人就是希望我们选C

另,prep笔记总结的很好,当希望表现动作结果的时候,用名词;当希望表现动作过程时,用动名词

做语法题还是要完全理解句子意思那,不然掉进陷阱了还很high

原来clearing 还有空旷的意思，从这个角度上看，选removal就最好不过了。

但是说，为了表示结果而选removal就有点疑惑了，the result of removal, 那就是结果的结果？result 已经表示出了结果的意思，

比如 the result of eating too much, 还是说，GMAC就是prefer "result of sth". to "result of doing sth."

if there's a noun, GMAT prefer noun to gerund (+ing) form.

removal is the noun of remove (removing), so the removal is used here.

there is a noun, clearance, for clean but it means some other things than clearing.

Although an "-ing" verb such as destroying can sometimes act as a noun, in this case the usage is strained. Again, at Alexandria is ambiguous (as in choice A). Choice B also uses resulted ungrammatically and produces a run-on sentence (In A.D. 391, the destroying... resulted and later generations lost). In C, the phrase because of the result of is unidiomatic as well as redundant. The structure of E illogically suggests that there was more than one largest library of the ancient world and that only Alexandria's was destroyed. C，resulting from the removing of这种结构要么是做前面句子的伴随状语表前面的结果，要么就是修饰前面的名词，但是这里后面是原因，所以不能作结果用。。。

而B，removing是V是不能和名词并列的~~~

不能这么理解吧！即使clearing有空旷地的意思，这里也应该认作是动名词的含义，而我认为之所以不选removing是因为remove有更好的表动作的名词形式，即removal，而clearance则可能有歧义，所以才这样。

大家认为呢？

这个题是这样的:

1,读题干,XX has increased ____

扫一眼选项,发现该句划线部分很显然是需要一个表示原因的内容,于是从A,B,C中三个选.

B不用看,直接从A,C选.

2,如果后面接V-ING,该V-ING在句中的成份是状语.状语修饰全句或者修饰最近的动词INCREASE 表状态或者结果.逻辑含义不符.(resulting from 不是表结果的含义).

推出答案A.

一定要抓主干,抓逻辑含义.其它的所谓EFFECTIVE先放一边吧.这是我做GWD SC的体会.再回头对照OG11的解释体系和白勇语法书里的解题思路--不用看多,30道足以,发现1,一定是先找出出题人想考什么.所以为什么OG11的每个语法题后都会是先把句子的结构和出题点黑字写出,其次2,再把后面所涉及的知识点讲到.

俺认为,不同的考试出题方式就用不同的方法做.找出出题重点和出题规律才是最重要的.
