答案是E
但是我不知道这句话是什么意思，怎么翻译啊，所以我就不知道怎么下手去解这道题，希望大家帮忙，谢谢

根本不需要知道这个题目的具体翻译，我认为可以按照如下方法解决。

１、根据LZM公理第*条：if不能引导名词性从句，必须由whether来替代。
　　显然is以前的复杂结构都只是主语，那么if后面的肯定就是名词性从句。这样用whether替　　代if就筛选掉很多，只有B,C,E了。

２、再比较其他结构的不同部分。
　　只有“being converted”和“conversion”的区别了。
　　“being + 形容词”形式显然不如该形容词的名词形式更简洁。况且你可以看到该结构是要　　做undergo的宾语的。肯定是名词结构要简单呀。

所以经过第二轮筛选，就只有正确答案了。

不知道讲解清楚了没有。要说翻译，我确实还真翻译不出来，抱歉。
