总结下来,就是除非你觉得原句的must非常有问题,否则不要轻易动它,是不是?

以下是引用顾风在2006-6-1 14:25:00的发言:

219.By showing that South Africa does not have a free market and is in fact a kind of collectivist welfare state for Whites only, Sowell argues that American conservatives have no valid ideological grounds to be in sympathy with the Pretoria regime.
(A) to be in sympathy with
(B) to sympathize with
(C) for sympathizing with
(D) that they should sympathize with
(E) that they should have sympathy for

顾风,

i copied this question here,  i believe there is one unnoticeable difference between "to sympathize with"
            and
            "
for sympathizing with",  we always overlook the difference.

but one of my american friends told me the americans use them in various ways..

"to sympathize with" indicate strong intention or 主观 ..

"for sympathizing with",   just simple reason ..

ETS like the later use....

i am not sure it's always correct, i used this riles on couple questions.. no problem..
