92. Never before had taxpayers confronted so many changes at once as they had in the Tax Reform Act of 1986.

(A) so many changes at once as they had in

(B) at once as many changes as

(C) at once as many changes that there were with

(D) as many changes at once as they confronted inD

(E) so many changes at once that confronted them in

不明白这个at once修饰问题: confronted as many changes at once与 confronted at once as many changes as…的区别是什么?at once应该只有一个词性,就是adv,不论作马上,还是一次性的意思讲,都应当修饰动词confronted.

at once都是修饰confronted,但是要注意它的位置

confronted as many changes是谓语+宾语,它们应尽可能的靠近,不要被其他成分分开,因此at once放在两者之间不好

中文也如此:我一下子看了20本书; 我看了一下子20本书  两个句子哪个好哪个坏中国人一看就明白,老外看这题也是如此

at once作为副词可以提前,但是前提是宾语很复杂,CHANGE THAT。。。。。什么的就可以

(B) at once as many changes as

(C) at once as many changes that there were with

不对是因为B  many changes 和Tax Reform Act没有可比性,同理C也不对

A不对是因为SO AS只用在否定句中,这里不是否定句,只是用否定词表达了否定意思
