哈~之前做了兩三次prep都沒有做到這題
結果竟然考試前一天做到
貼給大家參考一下囉
GWD 21-27
The electronics company has unveiled what it claims to be the world’s smallest network digital camcorder, the length of which is that of a handheld computer, and it weighs less than 11 ounces.
A. to be the world’s smallest network digital camcorder, the length of which is that of a handheld computer, and it weighs
B. to be the smallest network digital camcorder in the world, which is as long as a handheld computer, weighing
C. is the smallest network digital camcorder in the world, which is as long as a handheld computer, and it weighs
D. is the world’s smallest network digital camcorder, which is as long as a handheld computer and weighs
E. is the world’s smallest network digital camcorder, the length of which is that of a handheld computer, weighing
答案是B, 可是B里的which应该指代最近的词，那就是world, 所以我一下就把这选项否定了。我选D, 可是我也认为to be 的形式比is the要好，所以我也搞不清了。
A感觉更好哎
what it claims ...这个宾语从句已经有谓语V.了,再加上 is，就多余了；
B里面，weighing less than 11 ounces 变成修饰handeld computer了，感觉应该是修饰 digital camcorder的。
是呀，都有问题...
A it 歧义 ； the length of which is that of...好复杂的说法
B which和weighing的修饰对象似乎有问题： which 指代world? weighing就近修饰handheld computer?
CDE 的claim is 确实没有claim to be好...
so...哪个相比较而言较好呢？考试中真碰到你们会选什么阿...
开始我也认为claim is 没有claim to be好,就把CDE全排除了,但weighing的用法也不好,而且B中的in the world 也有修饰歧义.
GOOGLE到的句子:
相对而言还是D更合理.
只能选D
D 感觉缺个that...
...has unveiled (这里是不是应该有个that)what it claims is the...
未画线部分出现过it，指代The electronics company ，所以A中的it也只能指代The electronics company ，意思错
B的which指代和weighing表伴随或就近修饰也有问题
但CDE的what it claim is ...应该也是错的
只好猜B
B没有问题，which is as long as a handheld computer, weighing 这个weighing 可以修饰 a handheld computer , 也可修饰 which, 在有逗号的情况下优先修饰主语 which ，表示which 引导的整个句子的伴随状语。
D.
What＝the thing that
代入D中，The electronics company has unveiled the thing (that it claims) is the world’s smallest network digital camcorder, which is as long as a handheld computer and weighs less than 11 ounces. 没问题。
is和 weighs并列，一个说明其小，一个说明其轻。B错在weighing修饰对象成为了computer, 应该修饰camcorder
我的D好！
AC是不能选的！因为and it weighs不对！it一定是指代digital camcorder的，但是A中it 可能指length，可能computer ，甚至可能是company（而且指company更符合平行标准）；C也同样的问题！而且， A中的the length of which is that of a handheld computer很诡异，只能说长度是相等的，那有说XX长度是YY的长度的！
B不好是因为：1.world不应该放在which前，有歧义。2. weighing的修饰不明！
E就不说了，上诉综合了！
最好的是D，it claims作插入语，就像是我们很常见的it thinks，it feels都可以作插入语！

The electronics company has unveiled what it claims ...在这里what是unveiled的宾语,而it claims 是修辞what...这样的话claims后面不可能接含有谓语动词的分句.....因此可以排除BCD.而A项多了it，既然claims修辞的是what，而what则是后面整个分句的主语，这样it就显得多余了。把原来的句子还原过来就是
it claims what to be smallest network digital camcorder in the world, which is as long as a handheld computer, weighing less than 11 ounces.
我觉得D不错呀,我在GOOGLE上搜索到了这样一段话:
Lucent Technologies completes what it claims is the industry's first high-speed data call on commercial 3G UMTS wireless equipment designed for US operators with 1900 MHz spectrum. (Movements)

跟这个题目好象没有差别呀
the world's smallest network digital camcorder 这里用所有格错 用OG上的话说就是It seems that the world possesses the camcorder...排除ADE
C中的it不对,与未划线部分的it指代不一致
我觉得D不错呀,我在GOOGLE上搜索到了这样一段话:

跟这个题目好象没有差别呀
这个例子和题目是有差别的,我是这样理解滴: 差别在于此例子省略了主句谓语complete引导的宾语从句先行词that(非GMAT文章中都是这样的) , 而what引导的是宾语从句中的主语从句(晕了吧!)

题目中主句谓语unveil后跟的是what引导的宾语补足语,此宾补由what引导, 之所以说是宾补而不是象上例中的宾语从句,是因为GMAT语法中宾语从句先行词that不能省略. 如果不好理解我的意思的话,我们可以把句子拆开看, 从中学语法中我们知道what = sth. that(或者是all that), 那么题目可写成
The electronics company has unveiled something that it claims to be .....
如果要选D的话,那么未划线部分what即something that 前必须补出that(因为GMAT语法规定)
不知道我这样理解对不对...谁来指点一下..,

都在ＰＲＥＰ上看到原题了
错了，被what it claims to be给迷惑了而没仔细分析句子，很多时候不能凭感觉锚定自己（除非找到铁的错误）
which就近修饰避免歧义，v-ing放句末容易引起歧义，或修饰主句主语表伴随或结果或修饰宾语，而且D中and的绝对对称。。。
可能是我想得太简单了
老师说过A's B
A应该是有生命的东东
所以我就排除了ADE
C很容易排除
结果就选了B
晕 虽然觉得B也太好
btw 问NN一句
动词ing 是不是很百搭的 又能就近修饰又能修饰句子又能修饰中心语的啊
而which/that一般都就近修饰啊

prep解答：
A: unveiled后面的从句没有谓语what应该做claims后面的成分，to be跟what重复了；the length is the length不通；it指代不明，可以指company
B: which 指代world不对，weighing 修饰对象有歧义，可能computer，可能company，都不对
C: which 指代world不对；it指代不明，可以指company
D: correct
E: the length is the length不通；weighing 修饰对象有歧义，可能computer，可能company，都不对
答案就是D, it claims 做插入语，what 引导的句子必须由谓语.
答案应该就是D
首先，what it claims is 是可以的，it claim只做插入，相当于what is.所以D无错
然后B：
to be the smallest network digital camcorder in the world, which is as long as a handheld computer, weighing
B的which虽然可以跳过in the world(因为是修饰成分），来修饰camcorder,但是毕竟有歧义。
最后，weighing这里做上1个分局谓语（is)的伴随状语虽然也说的过去，但是逻辑上weight和is as long as..平行，这里用定语从句平行1个伴随分词，结构明显不太平衡，有头重脚轻之感。且这个分词带有就近修饰computer之歧义。
所以，在B,D都无严重错误的情况下，两项比较，D明显表意更清晰，准确，结构更符合逻辑意思。
