1. The computer company has announced that it will purchase the color-printing division of a rival company for $950 million, which is part of a deal that will make it the largest manufacturer in the office color-printing market.
(A) million, which is part of a deal that will make
(B) million, a part of a deal that makes
(C) million, part of a deal making
(D) million as a part of a deal to make
(E) million as part of a deal that will make

2. One automobile manufacturer has announced plans to increase the average fuel efficiency of its sport utility vehicles by 25 percent over the next five years, amounting to roughly five miles per gallon, and representing the first significant change in the fuel efficiency of any class of passenger vehicle in almost two decades.
(A) amounting to roughly five miles per gallon, and representing
(B) amounting to roughly five miles per gallon, and it would represent
(C) an increase that would amount to roughly five miles per gallon and it would represent

(D) an increase that would amount to roughly five miles per gallon and would represent
(E) which is an increase amounting to roughly five miles per gallon, representing

[size=33.33333206176758px]第一道题的答案为E,我错选了B, 给出的B错误的解释是同位语 a part of deal 不能修饰million。 可是第二道题的正确选项为D,我认为按照上题的解释,这里的increase也同样不能修饰next five years。请问这是为什么?

(B) million, a part of a deal that makes  这里a part of a deal无所指 ..
(E) million as part of a deal that will make  前面的并购as (作为) part of a deal  这里就符合逻辑了

第二题
(D) an increase that would amount to roughly five miles per gallon and would represent

这里的an increase 已经有所指increase the average fuel efficiency of its sport utility vehicles by 25 percent over the next five years,

举个例子  i ate the apple on the table, which i bought yesterday.
i ate an apple in the classroom, where i have my math classes.

increase指代的是前面25% 的变动  increase the average fuel efficiency of its sport utility vehicles by 25 percent
