这是一道逻辑题，但我主要是语法搞不清进而导致意思都不懂，所以发到语法区来了。

题目中的C选项，百思不得其解，为什么前面又是which后面又有them。请大牛帮忙翻译。谢谢！

Plantingsof cotton bioengineered to produce its own insecticide against bollworms, amajor cause of crop failure, sustained little bollworm damage until this year.This year the plantings are being seriously damaged by bollworms. Bollworms. however,are not necessarily developing resistance to the cotton's insecticide. Bollwormsbreed on corn, and last year more corn than usual was planted throughout cottongrowing regions. So it is likely that the cotton is simply being overwhelmed by corn-bredbollworms.

原文说，棉花去年遭受了虫害，但这种棉花自身是有杀虫剂的，而且这些虫子也并未发展出抗药性，也就是说应该不可能是这种虫子。然后又说，去年水稻种了很多，也许是吃水稻的虫子太多了，同时也导致棉花遭了殃。

A 无关

B 没有可比性，这等同于在谈另一种植物。

C 对的

D 无关，这里只谈bollworms

E 无关

C的其实可以拆成两个句子，Whether other crops that have been bioengineered to produce their own insecticide resist pests；the insecticide was to protect them against (these) pests. 重点在于这个against是which前面的介词，类似于by which, at which等等，实际是后面protect...agianst的成分。

也就是说，那些自身能够生成杀虫剂的水稻，它们自己生成的这些杀虫剂是能够抵挡这些虫害的。

这就是在比较同类了，有可比性。
