而我不知道答案Cwild animals have less total fat than that of livestock fed on grain and have more fat of a kind thought to be 中的that of livestock fed on grain 在补充出的句子中是主语还是宾语,如果是宾语,那句子的主语和谓语应该是什么?

请指点!

作者: howardwang    时间: 2005-8-5 17:23

刚刚找到一位前辈关于THAN的用法的解释,希望有所帮助。

than
conj.

  1. Used after a comparative adjective or adverb to introduce the second element or clause of an unequal comparison: She is a better athlete than I.
  2. Used to introduce the second element after certain words indicating difference: He draws quite differently than she does.
  3. When. Used especially after hardly and scarcely: I had scarcely walked in the door than the commotion started.

prep.

In comparison or contrast with: could run faster than him; outclassed everyone other than her.

Usage Note: Since the 18th century grammarians have insisted that than should be regarded as a conjunction in all its uses, so that a sentence such as Bill is taller than Tom should be construed as an elliptical version of the sentence Bill is taller than Tom is. According to this view, the case of a pronoun following than is determined by whether the pronoun serves as the subject or object of the verb that is “understood.” Thus, the standard rule requires Pat is taller than I (not me) on the assumption that this sentence is elliptical for Pat is taller than I am but allows The news surprised Pat more than me, since this sentence is taken as elliptical for The news surprised Pat more than it surprised me. However, than is quite commonly treated as a preposition when followed by an isolated noun phrase, and as such occurs with a pronoun in the objective case: John is taller than me. Though this usage is still widely regarded as incorrect, it is predominant in speech and has reputable literary precedent, appearing in the writing of such respected authors as Shakespeare, Johnson, Swift, Scott, and Faulkner. It is also consistent with the fact that than is clearly treated as a preposition in the than whom construction, as in a poet than whom (not than who) no one has a dearer place in the hearts of his countrymen. Still, the writer who risks a sentence like Mary is taller than him in formal writing must be prepared to defend the usage against objections of critics who are unlikely to be dissuaded from the conviction that the usage is incorrect. ·Comparatives using as... as can be analyzed as parallel to those using than. Traditional grammarians insist that I am not as tall as he is the only correct form; in formal writing, one should adhere to this rule. However, one can cite both literary precedent and syntactic arguments in favor of analyzing the second as as a preposition (which would allow constructions such as I am not as tall as him).

我觉得这个题的比较方式和大全777很像:

1.        The man was always aware, sometimes proudly and sometimes resentfully, that he was a small-town Midwesterner who was thrust into a world that was dominated by wealthier, better-educated, and more polished people than him.

(A) who was thrust into a world that was dominated by wealthier, better-educated, and more polished people than him

(B) who had been thrust into a world that was dominated by more wealthy, educated, and polished people than him

(C) who had been thrust into a world dominated by wealthier, better-educated, and people more polished than he was

(D) thrust into a world dominated by more wealthy, educated, and polished people than himE

(E) thrust into a world dominated by wealthier, better-educated, and more polished people than he

答案E的be后据NN们讨论是省略了was,那么

wealthier, better-educated, and more polished people than he was

首先,谢谢爱无伤!

大全我还有许多没做,但是就本题而言,如果e是答案,那么he是主格,应该是主语。如果省略了谓语,为什么不补足呢?不补足不会引起歧义吗?

整个句子不足应该是:

a world was dominated by wealthier, better-educated, and more polished people than he dominated the world. 或者类似的被动语态 a world was dominated by he.

that of livestock fed on grain (is) 后面的表语是什么?

还是没明白?继续讨论?

作者: 爱无伤    时间: 2005-8-5 22:21

如果一定要补全的话我觉得应该是这样的:

he was wealthy, educated and polished.

that of livestock fed on grain is little

I am taller than he is.

这个句子从句部分怎么补足?这是个状语从句,我觉得拆开是这样的:He is tall. I am taller.说成一句就是:I am taller than he is. 表语不能再补了。

同样这个题,比较的是fat of livestock fed on grain 和fat (of wild animals),拆开是这样

fat of livestock fed on grain is little. Wild animals have less fat.

Rice has protein of higher quality than wheta does.(主语比较,Rice 与wheat比)
意义:米有高质蛋白质,麦没有。
Rice has protein of higher quality than of lower quality(介宾比较,of higher 与 of lower比)
意义:米有高质蛋白质而非低质蛋白质
Rice has protein of higher quality than that in wheat(宾语比较,protein 与protein(that指代)比
Rice has protein of higher quality than sugur.(宾语比较,protein 与sugar比)
意义:米中的蛋白质比麦中蛋白质质量高
意义:米中的高质蛋白质比糖多。
Rice has protein of higher quality than usual/everbfore/1000 years ago/people expected(状语比较)
意义:米比通常/经往/多年前/人们预测/的蛋白质质量要高。

中,每一句子都可以补充相应的成分。你举的例子也不例外。I am taller than he( is tall)我觉得没错。

再举个汉语中关于连词的简单句,我和你其实都是高手,则必然可以说,我其实是高手,你其实是高手。

唯一有点特殊的是og19的正确答案

Rice has protein of higher quality than that in wheat其than后若补足则为wheat has that of high quality( in wheat)。in wheat有点多余。我想原正确答案that in wheat也许是为了简洁表达我补足这个句子的一个小的、少见的变换吧。og19解释不也说,wheat does也对的吗?

anyway,有og19作证,应该说mm的总体观点更正确。我可能理解上有点僵化。

再一次感谢爱无伤!!
