we dont actually know anybody from China mainland who have joined Lauder in our batch.

however, we know there are lots of foreigner who worked in China and joined Lauder China Trek after admission, they are from Spain, US, UK, etc.

We had a event with lauder candidates of 2010 China Trek several weeks ago, they told me that probably you are not eligible for lauder China trek if you registered yourself as a China mainland student, but you can try other treks, which have been setup for most of the emerging markets, such as south america, russia, etc.

Lauder program combines a Wharton MBA, a Master‘s in International Studies from Upenn, and customized language training. It is for those who  speak a second language(other than their mother language) and want to learn the art of communicating and conducting business in that language.

So, if you can speak a third language such as Japanese or French(I guess your mother language is Chinese), and would like to pursue your career in these cultures, Lauder program is ideal for you.

And, for the enterance into this program, you have to show your superb proficiency on the third language, because the proficiency assessment tests are requested in the admission process. (I met all Lauder Japanese trek classmates last week, their Japanese astonished all my Japanese classmates. Some of them can even speak Chinese every well, though he is a American in Lauder Japanese trek.)

请问据各位了解,wharton对传统行业以外的工作经验怎么看?比如自己创业,或者是边上班边兼职这样的经历?对申请有没有正面帮助呢?如果创业不是很成功呢?

Why not think from a different perspective? Non-traditional background or experience can help you stand out from the huge competitive applicant pool, but you need know how to take advantage of it.

Personally I think Wharton really cares about the diversity of student body. This year Wharton recruited at least two people with entrepreneurial background, including me. Statistics shows that more than 90% startups fail, actually my business is not successful yet. The thing is, the school wants to judge your personality, capability and potential  through your accomplishments, experience, and, more importantly, your learning and self-improving in the course of your academic & career paths. Your background and experience are only the material or platform where you show yourself in all the ways.

Every coin has two sides, so there is no good or bad background & experience, please just try to demonstrate yourself from a positive perspective.

If you received a bachelor‘s degree upon completion of a college-level education equivalent to a 4-year American undergraduate degree, you are eligible to apply to Wharton’s MBA program.

The second question is about your career vision. If you have mature consideration and clear image about your future, it will be OK.

As long as you can submit your score before application deadline, it will be safe.

I suggest that you do your research first! There is plenty of information on the Wharton website.

Actually, my bachelor's degree certification is totally same as the out off graduated student's. Just study period on my certification is 3 years. 1 year shorter, would it be taken care by Wharton administator.

For my career vision, I havent finalied what I want to do. I would think it over.

Thanks a lot

According to Wharton website, one of the minimum requirements to apply is "completion of an undergraduate program in an accredited U.S. college or its equivalent in another country", which is not confined to a four year degree. So personally I feel it should be fine as long as  your degree is an accredited one.  But you'd better drop an email to the admission office explaining your situtation and asking for authoritative answer.
