Most techniques relied on the investigators’ experience and powers of observation
The first step is to do a thorough review of the suspect’s history.
Most malingerers don’t read the psychological literature
Malingerers often exaggerate their symptoms and ignore common, subtle signs
Another clue is a cover story that conveniently mixes delusion and reality.

ob:  8.05  THE criminals always get away from trial with faking insanity. but psychologists can apply a battery of test to fake-out the faker. 1.thorough review of the suspect’s history and crime scene, 2.Then come one or more long, rambling interviews to make felon weary.  most malingers dont know psychology but learn from movies: auditory hallucinations, schizophrenia. And malingerers often exaggerate their symptoms and ignore common, so psychologists trap them with easy question. at the same time, hallucination must fit with crime scene. There are also standardized tests that trip up malingerers( test for amnesia)  Most briliant malingerer was Vincent Gigante, faked insanity more than decades.
