9.14 独立 城里还是农村更适合take care of family
Some people believe it is a good choice forpeople to raise a family in a rural area since there are better living natureenvironment and less pressure. However, as for me, I totally disagree with thisassertion. Even the live in the countryside seem to be easy and worriless, families need much more things such as better job opportunities and educationchances to live and take care of their family members.

To begin with, there are more jobopportunities in cities which can provide individuals more chances to makemoney for their members. In other words, the economic conditions in big citiesare generally better than those in small towns, which in turn attract moreinvestment from commercial companies. Therefore, compared to those small towns, there are always more modern and international companies which can offer cityresidents numerous job opportunities and receive a higher salary to supporttheir families. For example, Chinese especially many young people would like tolive in super big cities such as Beijing, shanghai, Guangzhou. One of the mostobvious reasons is that in those cities people can have a much higher incomethan in their rural hometown. In sum, big cities’ better economic condition isthe key to raise a family with better material conditions.

In addition, people who are living in theurban area seem to have better education opportunities which are quite crucialto people’s long term development. To be more specific, education institutionsalways are built in the city with more population with the intention of servingand educating person. Therefore, compared with small countryside, in a bigcity, it has more schools, more universities which offer amount of educationalopportunities for both children and adults to help them to be better. For instance,Beijing has over hundreds of colleges and universities which now provide tensof thousands of student to study in the city. As a result, most of the people inBeijing hold a college degree or have a chance to own a degree in theuniversity; however, in Kashgar, a small town in northwest China, it is verydifficult for people to find a college. Different from people in Beijing, thesesmall areas individuals usually have lower education background which canhardly help them to live a better life not to speak of helping their family members.

In conclusion, personally, I do think thatthe big cities are better places to raise a family.

The reading passage points out three reasonsto determine the existence of actually tissue in dinosaur fossil. But in the listening, the professor doubts the realness of identifications made in the reading.

First, the professor challenges the existence of blood vessels what the reading passagebelieves. He believes that the so-called blood vessels are bacteria. Because bacteriacolonize the death and empty hollows and leave there.

Second, he argues thered substance in sphere, which is remains of red blood cells in the readingpassage. According to the researchers, other animals’ fossils did not have anyred blood cells when they were alive. So they may one of the reddish mineral.

Third and last, theprofessor believes that it is not collagen because people have never foundcollagen in animal remains that are older than a hundred years. So the collagendid not belong to the dinosaur and from another much more recent source. Collagencannot last so long, and it may from the researcher’s skin.

9.16 独立 should we always state our honest opiniions, even though most people don't agree with you.

Being honest a fundamental rulewe should hollow in our society, is the most important virtue everyone shouldhave. Even when we were young, our parents often imbued us with the notion thatwe should always be honest to others. However, as I grow up, I tend to believethat we should not always state our honest opinions.

First of all, stating the honest pointswithout reservation may exert the passive influences on the relationship. As weall know, if we honestly state our own thinking, we may, to some degree, hurtothers’ feeling. To make things worse, some of them may even be irritated owingto the fact that we say honestly may hurt their self-esteem. Under suchcircumstance, they would be reluctant to communicate with us or even regard usas their enemies, which is the beginning of the deterioration of therelationship. Especially, if you work in a group and state the opinion that noother member would agree with you, you may be regarded as an arrogant person. Hence, people would gradually estrange from you. As a result, you cannot integrateyourself with the team or even get eliminated from the team. No matter what theresult may be, you cannot get along with others and the sense of lonelinesswould ensue.

Moreover, stating our opinions honestlywithout considering others’ opinions may do harm to our self-confidence. Usually,if most people disagree with an opinion, the viewpoint may be limited and needto be improved. Hence, rather than stating our opinions directly, we shouldreflect on our opinions and find out the shortcomings or loopholes in our mind. After experiencing such a process, we would gain a better insight into our ownopinions and even find out that our opinions are completely wrong. On thecontrary, if we just state our opinions without reflection, our points may beobjected and we would even receive numerous criticism. Under such circumstance,if we cannot cope with the criticism appropriately, we would begin to doubt outown ability. This, of course, would have passive effects on the build-up ofself-confidence.

To conclude, as the society is changing allthe time, we must change ourselves in time and take different measurement whenwe decide to reveal or conceal. So we would not state our honest opinions whenmost people do not agree with them.

9.17 选择挑战性的计划还是实际的计划

Real-lifeexperience has taught us that plans are easy to make, yet extremely difficultto follow through with. In our daily lives, there are probably a number ofplans that have not been carried out effectively. Thus, regarding plans for thefuture, some people tend to make them practical; for fear that challengingplans cannot be fulfilled. However, I believe it is better to make challengingplans for one’s future.

First, challengingplans motivate people to be more ambitious in attaining their goals. Napoleon usedto say, every French soldier carries a marshal’s baton in his knapsack. Indeed,he who does not have great ambitions can never succeed. High spirits and aburning desire to reach higher goals should be a prerequisite for those whodream of a brilliant future. To some extent, sketching our challenging plansdemonstrates a person’s powerful ambitions and iron-willed determination. Afterall, where there is a will, there is a way. So long as enthusiasm does notdiminish, the chance of conquering each challenge in the plan will beremarkably enhanced.

In my opinion, challenging plans can accelerate self-improvement, because in order to completethose formidable tasks a person will have no other choice but to make progresscontinuously. Thus, a higher standard is adopted and inspired effort is made. Asa matter of fact, there are a number of ways to achieve fasterself-improvement. These include attaining extensive knowledge on varioustopics, choosing diverse activities and social events to accumulate richexperience and to consult with the wise to learn what one can from them. In theprocess of fulfilling one’s challenging plans, mistakes and temporary failureswill most likely be encountered. This helps a person to recognize theirshortcomings, so that immediate action can be taken to rectify them.

However, we shouldtry to avoid making plans that are too unrealistic to be achieved. Sometimes peoplefill their goals with fancy dreams. Far from reality, these dreams areimpossible to realize and such plans towards their fulfillment are destined tobe futile.

Therefore, allthese points should be thoroughly taken into consideration when planning forthe future. Without a doubt, in one’s endeavors toward success, a millionchallenges will be encountered. The best way is to face them bravely andovercome them one by one. Thus, it is better to set higher standards forourselves by making challenging plans, because this will help us to strivetowards our goals with added enthusiasm and boundless energy.

吸取emily的意见,加入一段让步,显得更加完善。
