关于Fordham的PMCB项目科普贴（超长文慎入）

本人女屌丝，69族，非211院校毕业，申请MSF专业，在众多申请的学校中Fordham算综合最好的了。。。经过漫长的等待，F竟然给了我去读PMCB项目的机会。一开始激动地痛哭涕零，以为是conditional offer，后来经过各种途径的咨询，妈蛋，读完硕士预科还要reapply。苦于没有足够的资金支持外加承受不了重新申请不上的风险，我还是把我所了解的分享给广大牛X的CDer吧，造福一下人类。以下是我的“offer”
Dear Miss XX:

The Admissions Committee recognizes your academic achievements and potential for career success, but we do have concerns with your communication skills and your ability to thrive in a U.S. business program and corporate environment. To assist you in a successful transition to graduate business study, we are delighted to offer you the opportunity to participate in the Pre-Masters Colloquium in Business (PMCB) Program at Fordham University Graduate School of Business Administration. This program focuses on English communication skills, public speaking, American culture and business classes to help prepare you for our graduate degree programs. Please note that admission to the Pre-Masters Colloquium in Business does not guarantee admission to another MS Program however your application will be strongly considered based on successful completion of the PMCB Program (GPA 3.5 or better and sufficient results of a language proficiency exam).

Further information about the Pre-Master’s Colloquium in Business is attached with this letter. The following is important information to keep in mind as you make plans to join the Pre-Masters Colloquium in Business Program:

·       Fall 2014 classes for the Pre-Masters Colloquium in Business Program will begin in late September/early October.

·       Pre-Masters Colloquium in Business Program consists of 6 courses (3 Communication classes and 3 Business classes)

·       Please visit your VIP page at http://fordhamgrad.askadmissions.net/vip/ to submit your Response to Offer of Admission as soon as possible via the electronic form. Please be aware that you will not be able to register for classes until you fill out this form.

·       Payment for classes will be due shortly after registration. No partial payment or payment plans are available for this program since it is a non-degree granting program.

·       Should you decide to withdraw from the Pre-Masters Colloquium in Business Program, you must drop the course(s) and submit a written notice of withdrawal directly to the Office of Admissions.

Please note that you will not be admitted to an MS program until you have met the requirements of the PMCB Program and the admissions criteria for the MS program in which you are applying. You are required to submit another application in order to be considered for admission to the program you wish to apply following the appropriate deadlines.

You will receive further information after your Response to Offer of Admission is submitted. We recommend that you schedule an appointment with an Admissions Officer shortly after your arrival if you are interested in submitting another application to one of our MS programs to discuss requirements and eligibility.

然后我就不懂啊，这毛意思，读完俩学期预科之后还不能直接去读MSGF,还要重新申请？这不要命么，浪费时间浪费金钱。。。我想知道我离名校是只有一墙之隔还是相差千里，于是给professor dean发了封邮件。无奈本人英语水平有限，大家凑合看吧。
Dear Professor Dean,
I am far from delighted on seeing the letter that you offer me the unique opportunity to study the premaster courses in Fordham Graduate School of Business Administration.But I have some concerns about this program,I will be very grateful if you can spare some time to read this letter.
1.In the letter,you said," Please note that admission to the Pre-Masters Colloquium in Business does not guarantee admission to another MS Program however your application will be strongly considered based on successful completion of the PMCB Program (GPA 3.5 or better and sufficient results of a language proficiency exam). "Does it mean that I will be admitted to MSGF(the major I applied) after the completion of the PMCB Program as long as my GPA is above 3.5?Do I need to retake the TOEFL and GMAT examination or do I have to reapply for the MSGF?
2.During the PMCB study period, is the class separated within the students who are all in the PMCB program or do we study with other students who study master courses? Will Chinese students make a large amount?
3.When I finish the program and start the master program courses,will some of the courses related to the premaster courses be wavied?In that case,I will be glad to reduce some of the study expenses in US.

dean的办事效率还挺高，第二天就给我回了。。。我贴过来给大家瞅瞅，大家一看就能看懂。我终于知道，那个PMCB program的offer实则是MSGF的拒信，唉唉。
Dear Ms. XX,

Thank you for your note and congratulations, once again, on your acceptance to the PMCB Program. In terms of your questions, below please find my responses.

You will have to officially reapply to the MSGF Program. While I am not on the Admissions Committee for the MSGF Program, I have been told that your candidacy was very strong however they are suggesting that you obtain an immersion in English and American Culture pedagogy.

If you enroll in the PMCB Program, you will take classes solely with other PMCB students who mostly are Chinese in origin.

The courses in the PMCB Program do not waive any courses in the MS Programs.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

We recently had numerous PMCB students who finished their studies apply to their respective MS Programs and they were successfully admitted.

看了之后，F我是不准备去了。目前手中还有loyola,denver,UTD,hofstra这四个offer，其中hofstra不考虑，剩下三个还在纠结。有没有好心人路过的时候顺便帮我分析一下这三所学校应该去哪里比较好。。。在此谢过。。。

楼主好人啊我也是最近才收到被调剂到这个专业的ad，可是相关信息太少实在是不明所以，太感谢楼主了~这个还是有很大的风险，慎重考虑嘚

而且预科光学费就要多花10W多啊。。。怎么都觉得不划算。。。哎。。。你还有哪些学校的ad???

我还有就是一些大家都有的哎   比如clark，drexel 加州，utd，buffalo，gwu人大啦。。。

我也收到了这个。不过开学时间好蛋疼
