题目：Colleges and universities should require all faculty to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

As is asserted in the topic, faculty should be required to work outside the academic world and turn to the courses they teach. Considering the responsibility of the colleges and the universities，and also the complexity of the circumstances of the problem, I think the assertion might be valid in some cases but limited if it is require in all the universities and colleges.

Admittedly, faculty in the universities and colleges, should take the responsibility to impart courses to the students. Faculty, rich in the experience of researching and the new theory in the world, would benefits the students' knowledges and even their views to the science. Furthermore, when turn to teaching, the faculty are likely to find out the sections which are nebulous and even goes against the new theory in the text book,  and the text book which students use to study could be corrected immediately. Moreover, faculty could get the idea from the students who are innovative, which would be helpful in their researching.

However, the recommendation in the topic might, moe or less ,goes against the main responsibility of the colleges and universities. Universities, as we all know, are institutions mainly for researching for the unknown fields and thus propel the development of the science and the society in order to benefit the human beings, but not for only teaching their students. If the faculty are forced to spend time in teaching, the time they spend on researching would be decreased as a result. And as a consequence, the development of the science and society would become slow. Comparing the decline in the researching area and the benefits in the teaching, it is hard to say that the recommendation is worthwhile.  

In addition, whether the recommendation in the topic is feasible in all the academic areas is questionable.While it is possible and feasible to ask the faculty who are major in science to impart the courses, it is infeasible to let the faculty in philosophy or other literature subjects to find a work outside the academic area.

In conclusion, although the recommendation that universities and colleges should ask their faculty to work outside the academic area seems to be valid, but in many cases, whether the recommendation is feasible and whether it is worth to do so should be discussed.

第三段偏了  If the faculty are forced to spend time in teaching, the time they spend on researching would be decreased as a result.不是教学和科研的关系
