1。 take a rain check 改天再来。

一。过去西方人做生意，发现打折可以吸引顾客，有时候吸引了太多顾客了，来晚了的顾客发现广告上说好打折的东西已经被抢购完了。商家就给来迟的顾客一张票据：rain check，意思是说：我们迟几天还会进货，虽然那时候打折期已经过了，但只要你拿着这张rain check来，我就单独给你按照打折价格卖。因为是我们的存货问题，造成你顾客白白跑了一趟。到了现在，这个词就演化成：下次再来，另外找时间再做某事了。a piece of paper that you are given by a shop when something which is advertised for sale at a certain price is not available. This piece of paper allows you to buy the item at the advertised price when it becomes available.

二。 一张票据，可以让你下次来看因坏天气而取消的演出或某项活动。

a ticket that allows you to see an event at a later time if bad weather stops that event from happening

三。take a rain check (on sth) INFORMAL 非正式场合下使用，用来告诉别人你无法接受别人的某个邀请，但是愿意另外找时间来做这事。used to tell someone that you cannot accept their invitation now, but would like to do so at a later time:

介意我另外找时间和你喝一杯吗？我今晚要工作到很晚

Mind if I take a rain check on that drink? I've got to work late tonight.

2。选修一门课程后，十天内，也就是上了几堂课后，发现自己跟不上，或不喜欢，可以找教务处之类的部门再退掉（drop a course）.这个允许drop课程的时间各个学校规定稍有不同。排队退课的人可能很多。都挤在这几天了。

snake snaking around  动词，象蛇一样绕着教务处的那做大楼。

请教几道题目，以前也拿出来讨论过，觉得还是不够深，有点蒙，能否麻烦楼主帮忙把字面意思、引申意思都说一下：）

21、W:you've been studying so hard I almost forgot to tell you about the all-day volleyball tournament going on.

M:that's just the kinda news i've been waiting to hear.the books can wait.

问：what will the man probably do ?

答：go to the bolleyball tournament.

这题为什么不选：discuss the news with the woman.呢？女的是想告诉他锦标赛进行的怎么样了，所以男的把书扔一边跟她讨论起来了。

26、男：oh,no .look at this red paint on my new jacket.why did the school paint that railing anyway?

女：oh,that's too bad!you'd think they might at least have put up a sign.

问：what does the woman imply?

答：the school could easily have prevented the problem.

我原来选the railing didn't really need to be painted.我觉得这两人扯的都风马牛了。男的说干吗把这傻东西印上去，女的说起码也得是一图案吧。言外之意不就是那个railing不该印吗？

今天抽签做了2002年10月的语法，大错4个......还好不是考试的时候错。。。

有同学求助一道9510的听力题

Excuse me, I don't understand why flight 213 has been delayed. The weather seems fine now.     
I'm afraid New York got three times as much snow as we did here.It should be clear by morring though.

A.Flight 213 is preparing to depart.
C.The plane cannot land in New York because of bad weather.

Hankvision的回答：

A：对不起，我不理解为什么213航班已经被延迟了。现在的天气看起来不错啊。

B：我恐怕得说，纽约那边下的雪比我们这里刚下过的雪要多出来3倍哪。可得费点功夫把机场清理出来。

所以，我们能从对话中听到的是：
一个等得不耐烦的顾客问, 好好的天气干吗要延迟起飞。
一个工作人员耐心地回答, 纽约那边还要清理雪啊，飞机要等啊
没人说：好了，飞机可以准备走了，大家赶紧上飞机吧。
