1. Employee & store displays might have been the key success attributes; blindly removing them could harm sales. 2. Surveys lack clarity 3. Overlapping customer base after partnering – not necessarily encourage more customers. Even if more customers, the author did not consider partnership cost (cost of training, upfront renovation, integration cost, etc.)
IR 1. (Multi-source): 325 people listening to 30 songs, each song a survey, each survey 6 questions - Total survey <10000. (325*30 < 1000)
2. (graph) insurance – major accidents – major medical conditions.
问题有两个: a. minor accidents 然后 major medical cost 几率是多少:选了b%*e%; b. major medical cost 几率是多少:选了b%*e%+a%*d%
3. (Line graph) Export & Import & Domestic. - Positively correlated: domestic & import; - Which has the highest: mean. (the domestic line is above the other two)
Someone (Alice) bought one unit in a condo building. All units in this condo vary widely in terms of area, property tax, price and # of rooms. The maintenance fee can be levied using the following methods: a. same for all units; b. proportional to unit area; c. proportional to property tax; d. proportional to sales price. e. proportional to # of rooms. Additional info: unit area, property tax and sales price are directly linked.
If one and only one of the above methods is used, no unit has a lower maintenance fee than Alice’s unit; if another (and only that one) of the above methods is used, Alice’s unit has the highest maintenance fee. Questions asks you to pick out the two methods from a-e. My answer is a & e.
Quantitative (my answer in the bracket) JJ
254. Distance d mile, $1.6/mile, $0.4/min, price s. asking for speed (mph). V=d/t=(24d)/(s-1.6d).
RC1 – Canadian Female Journalists
1. Which can be inferred about the Women in Canada before 19th century? Choice 1: They produce a lot of things at home (food, clothing, medicine, etc.) Choice 2: They think reading newspaper is not respectable.
This is a pretty confusing one but I’m fairly certain the answer is 1. Choice 1 is mentioned by the article as “the newspapers advertise a lot of goods that were previously produced at home, such as food, fashion and medicine….”; Choice 2 is mentioned by the article in the very end “Another societal change is that reading newspaper is regarded more respectable for women.”
2. Purpose of the Article Provide historical context to a period where there was an increasing number of women journalists.
RC2 - Upstream-manufacturing-downstream
1. Which of the following would the author agree about the “traditional manufacturer” E. They are set up for massive production.
2. Which role does the “handcrafters” play – answer: all three roles (upstream, manufacturer, downstream).
RC3 – Cost Distortion: Blue pen violet pen 1. What resulted in the cost distortion? A. Costs other than material and labor were improperly allocated to different products.
2. What would weaken the author’s main argument? Answer: if overhead cost remains constant regardless of numbers of product lines.
3. What would happen if cost is properly allocated? Answer: Margin for blue pen will be higher.
RC4 - Internet Interactive Testing 1. What are the common traits of products that cannot be used in internet testing? E. They require more sensual experience not visual.
2. What is the main purpose of the article ? This one I’m not too sure…but all options relating to “retailers” is wrong. The article is talking about manufacturers. I picked the one that talked about how manufactures know which strategy is better by using internet based testing.
3. What’s the purpose of the last paragraph? Answer: lay out some limitations of internet testing, but then restated the benefit so re-affirmed the idea (internet testing) raised in the first paragraph.
The factors of flood include increasing numbers of flood victims living in flood prone areas, such as flood plains and mountainside ; deforestation ; the continuous decrease of wetland. 2. The laws of the united nation….(B) 这题JJ有。 B。 3. Scientists sought to explain without success…… Scientists sought without success to explain… Scientists sought unsuccessfully an explanation… 4. xxxxx, a figure hundreds of times more than xxx…
CR: 1. Flowers are in danger in both City N and L. 15% of the flowers will be wiped out in city N vs only 5% in L. Why does the government decided to fund L instead of N to save the flowers? Answer: because unlike city N, flowers in city L cannot be found anywhere else.
2. Bad film (violent, antisocial) vs. Good film (family oriented). Experiment done: someone fell in the cinema. People exiting from the good film is more quicker in helping than people exiting from the bad film. Conclusion: bad film make people bad. Questions: which of the following test, slightly different, but can affirm the conclusion above? Answer: people entering the bad film is more quicker in helping than people entering the good film. Not really sure, looks the most correct compared to the rest.
3. In a city, the government provides flood damage insurance to people who live in flood-prone area. But participation rate (people who actually apply for these insurance/total population eligible) is only 15%, very low. The reason for the low participation, according to the government, is that people wouldn’t apply for these insurance unless they had experienced flooding themselves. Therefore, the participation rate is expected to increase in the future. Question: which of the following would explain why the rate is expected to increase?
A. Population who had no experience of flooding but moved to flood-prone area for other reasons continued to increase in recent years, but the growth is expected to cease in the near future. BCD… E. Recent weather indicates that in the future the flood-prone localities would increase. I picked A and I’m pretty sure the answer is A. I thought about E a lot but didn’t pick E because E indicated that there will be more flood-prone areas, not that participation will increase. (participation = people that applied for insurance/total population in the flood-prone area)
4. C-Chicken. A kind of chicken (C-Chicken) is being raised in captivity to be released into the wild. Baby C-Chicken can be fed both by human and by adult C-Chicken. Baby C-Chicken who were fed by human is more likely to survive than Chicken fed by adult chicken, but researchers still insist on letting the adult C-Chicken feed the baby chicken. Questions: explanation. A. Where these chicken were raised are very far from where they will be released. (x) Another choice: Chickens fed by human proved less likely to pick up skills that would enable them to successfully raise their offspring, compared to chickens fed by adult chicken. I picked this one.
