这里不是说要考虑nationwide能否修饰学生。在GMAT的SC里面，几乎没有考察一个modifier能否修饰某个名词的情况，至少我没见过哈。这样考没有什么太大的意义，即使要考，也考常见的或是通过逻辑就能判断对错的。关于修饰，GMAT考的主要是：第一，修饰对象是否符合句意。如果原句句意没有错，我们是不能去改变的，比如本题；第二，这个modifier形式、意思是否正确。比如常考的economic和economical。

a，it指代adminssion。应该是对的吧。
b和a差不多，不过用了被动；
c，的taken的逻辑主语是colleges and universities ，逻辑意思不对；而且主句主语是colleges and universities ，谓语动词应该用are，矛盾了。
d，的them无指代，只能指代nationwide students 或colleges and universities，逻辑意思错。their academic merit应该用merits吧。
e，我觉得it没指代吧。楼上似乎说的nationally错误似乎也对。
